古典ギリシア語発音がどのようであったか、言語学者の間でも一致しようにもできないのだが、ただひとつ、現代ギリシア語発音のようではないことがしきりにあった点では一致している。

Linguists couldn’t agree on what ancient Greek sounded like, other than that it often didn’t sound like modern Greek.

■ここに注目■　could not agree on ～ other than that…　「～に同意しようにもできないが、ただ…だけは同意している」。「ただ…だけを除いては」nothing except という形でも表現できるが、～や…が節の場合には、文例のような形が最良。
